Bridge over creek

Bridge over creek

My back yard needs a bridge.  When I need to mow the back yard I need to cross a small, sometime wet creek.  For years I have just used two wood two by ten planks to cross.

It might be a surprise, but for me, mowing is  a great time to “meditate”.  I think about all sorts of things, and this last week while mowing I came up with a simple bridge design. So I bought the wood and yesterday Zach, Jeanne and I put it together.  Using a Craftsman miter saw and Ryobi cordless tools we were able to get it done in a very short amount of time.

I might have over built.  I have a 54 inch Zero turn Cub Cadet Tank and I wanted something that could handle the weight and the width. I wasn’t interested in something fancy just durable and strong.

This was built with 2 x 12’s, 2 x 6’s and 4 x 4 posts.  Once we started assembling we realized it was going to be difficult to get to and over the creek.

But Zach had  a brainstorm and found a number of PVC pipes in the garage and we were able to roll it to the location and he and I were able to lift the end over the creek.

It works!
