Kerosene heater wick replacement

Kerosene Heater Wick Replacement

I have a kerosene heater to take the chill off my deck.

This year it didn’t want to burn which usually means the wick is covered in carbon. I could not get the carbon cleaned off the wick so I opted for a new wick.

Make sure you read the owners manual for the details.

Don’t worry if you have never replaced one, it is pretty simple.

A few pictures during process are below.

Old wick with blackened and hardened end, covered in carbon.

New wick installed. Its held in place with tiny “teeth” inside the wick assembly.

Sliding the new wick over the center and push the wick holder in place aligning the four hold down

Worked, all I needed to get the heater back up and working.

Ryobi did it again

Posted on March 27, 2015 by Scott Smith

I am always looking for tools…oh and tools that can be easily used, transported, carried etc.  As I have mentioned before I have anew respect for Ryobi because they created lithium batteries that I can us in my old tools.

Well they also make a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Pole Saw (tree trimmer) that uses the same Ryobi batteries. I ordered it online from Home Depot for $99 shipped to my door. Got a chance to use it last weekend to cut out a few dead limbs.  I had so much fun I cant wait until this weekend to cut a few more dead limbs.

It uses an eight inch chain saw blade and the standard Ryobi 18V ONE+ battery pack. I pulled the battery out of the drill and stuck it in the tree trimmer and used it all afternoon. I haven’t recharged it yet.  It was cutting limbs up to 4 inches.  Less mess than a gas trimmer  and no long extension cords to get tangled up for the plug in type.

Now I am thinking of going back and buying a  hedge trimmer for the Ryobi 18V ONE+ battery.  No more cutting my extension cord.
