Need an easy winter project for your two toon Pontoon?

Posted on December 22, 2016 by Scott Smith
Don’t buy a new pontoon, just add a Pontoon Wholesalers Poly 3rdTube Kit

The installation only takes a few basic tools and a little manual labor to complete.

Guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when Mike at Pontoon Wholesalers said it would only take about four hours for the job.

I had my doubts, but in reality it can be installed in a remarkable short amount of time. We planned on a weekend so we would have time to make mistakes and capture the fun and excitement on video, which we did.

See the video at https://youtu.be/1eGq68LkPI0.

Also read about the full install on Pontoon and Deckboat’s website.
Pontoon Wholesalers website is www.pontoonwholesalers.com/.
Check it out. Mike and Troy at Pontoon Wholesalers put together a great package. They are also great people to work with.  It is a good product, easy to install and makes the boat handle very nice adding stability and comfort. And almost looks factory. Now I want a bigger Mercury outboard!

Using a drone to inspect a boat

Posted on December 13, 2016 by Scott Smith

Once you buy a drone, what do you do? There are only so many photos of the house.

We tested a drone as a way to inspect a sailboat mast.  Need to climb 60 feet to see whats at the top?  Use a drone first. Might save you the trip and the photos are in great details.

In this case we used a Yuneec Typnoon Q500 – 4K and a Yuneec Breeze.  The breeze is flown using he smart phone as a controller.
Check out the video here,  Drone mast inspection

Ryobi Impact Wrench

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Scott Smith

Ryobi Impact Wrench

Okay, I bought a new Ryobi Impact Wrench.  All i can say is Ryobi got me again. The day they brought out new batteries that would retrofit to my old drills and saws, I started looking at buying more stuff. You can never have enough tools, especially cordless power tools.

So I am getting ready to install the Pontoon Wholesalers third pontoon kit. I need to drill a bunch of holes in the mounting rails and bolt the rails to the bottom of the boat deck.

I was thinking a new cordless impact wrench would work great to help install the rails.

Guess who makes a cordless 3-speed half inch Drive Impact Wrench, Ryobi.

A quick trip to Home Depot found Ryobi impact wrench in stock and now in my toolbox.

Interestingly the first test of the impact wrench came with the boat trailer wheels, both tires on the port (left) side went flat and had to be repaired so I had to remove and replace them.

Anyway the impact wrench works great. More to follow.

On the road with Scott Sky Smith. Please excuse any errors.
