JSX-1, the SubSonex proof-of-concept prototype will once again be featured in flight demonstrations during the showcase presentation at AirVenture Oshkosh 2013. The SubSonex Personal Jet concept was first unveiled at AirVenture in 2009. After successful pairing with the PBS TJ-100 engine, the SubSonex JSX-1 prototype achieved first flight in August 2011 and completed a successful flight test program in 2012. Second-generation JSX-2 prototypes are currently under construction to serve as ³conforming² prototypes representing the final SubSonex Personal Jet product. JSX-2 will incorporate many new features and enhancements, including fully retractable gear with a steerable nose wheel, a full-airplane ballistic parachute system, larger cockpit, increased fuel capacity and more. More SubSonex details, including flight videos and an informative webinar presentation, can be found on the Sonex web site at: www.SonexAircraft.com/subsonex

The 2013 Sonex Aircraft Homecoming and Open House Fly-In will be the 10th annual event to be held, serving as the first-stop for Sonex pilots flying-in to AirVenture. The event is a great opportunity for prospective Sonex Aircraft builders to see customer-built aircraft and meet their builders/owners/pilots all in once place, while meeting the Sonex Aircraft ownership and staff and touring the Sonex headquarters facility. EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — (June 27, 2013) — Chris Hadfield, the Canadian astronaut who became a YouTube sensationearlier this year with his “Space Oddity” music video from the International Space Station, will be among the “Space Night” presenters on Tuesday evening, July 30, during the evening programs at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013.

“Space Night” is one highlight of a week of evening programs at EAA’s Theater in the Woods, which features aviation and other personalities in programming specifically aimed at aviation enthusiasts. The evening programs are included with AirVenture admission and are sponsored by Mars Snack Foods.

The July 30 “Space Night” presentation will feature Hadfield – whose YouTube video posted in May 2013 has surpassed 16 million views worldwide – along with former Space Shuttle Commanders Charlie Precourtand Kent Rominger(now with aerospace company ATK) to talk about the end of the Space Shuttle program and the future of manned space travel.

“EAA members and AirVenture attendees have always been eager to hear in-depth about famous and innovative achievements during our evening programs at Theater in the Woods,” said Jim DiMatteo, EAA’s vice president of AirVenture features and attractions. “This year’s lineup is a tremendous mix of aviation history, accomplishments, and what’s ahead in the future.”

Other confirmed evening programs at Theater in the Woods include:
