NEW EAA DVD SAVES YOU TIME AND MONEY ON AIRCRAFT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Certificated aircraft owners benefit from latest in EAA’s famed how-to video series
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (April 13, 2017) — A new how-to video from the Experimental Aircraft Association gives certificated aircraft owners a better understanding of preventive maintenance and ways to save money by personally completing some of the tasks.
Aircraft Ownership: Understanding Owner Preventive Maintenanceis a multi-part video series combined on one DVD. It shows certificated aircraft owners how to legally maintain an aircraft in accordance with FAA preventive maintenance regulations.
“There are many tasks that a certificated aircraft owner can do that are completely legal under FAA regulations and will save money,” said Charlie Becker, EAA’s director of chapters, communities and homebuilt community manager. “This DVD will help those aircraft owners plan maintenance and have confidence in what they can do themselves and when to go to the next level.”
More than four hours of video are organized in easy-to-follow categories, so a viewer can find exactly what is needed. Included are extensive discussions of the legal and technical requirements, plus dozens of hands-on demonstrations with step-by-step guidance on basic preventive maintenance projects.
The demonstrations include such areas as:
·         Landing gear and tires
·         Safety wire and cotter pin replacement
·         Hydraulic fluids
·         Safety belts and seat parts
·         Landing and position lights
·         Spark plugs and batteries
·         Fuel and oil screens and filters
The video segments are hosted by Dick and Bob Koehler, EAA SportAir Workshop instructors, who each hold Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificates with Inspection Authorization (IA) privileges. Their vast knowledge and teaching skill provide the knowledge and techniques needed to perform basic preventive maintenance procedures.

Oshkosh air traffic procedures are required reading for all aviators flying to AirVenture
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (March 31, 2017) — The Federal Aviation Administration has released the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), featuring arrival and departure procedures for EAA’s 65th annual fly-in convention July 24-30 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. 
The NOTAM, which is in effect from 6 a.m. CDT on Friday, July 21, until noon CDT on July 31, outlines procedures for the many types of aircraft that fly to Oshkosh for the event, as well as aircraft that land at nearby airports.
The NOTAM was designed by the FAA to assist pilots in their EAA AirVenture flight planning. This year’s NOTAM cover features a photo of a B-25 bomber parked at Oshkosh during the fly-in.
While the overall procedure is similar to past years, there are some changes compared to the 2016 version. Some of those changes include:
·         TFRs expected on 10-11 a.m. CDT Friday, July 28, and during the afternoon air shows on Monday-Sunday, July 24-30
·         Military area changes in central Wisconsin
·         Oshkosh Taxiway Bravo designators changed
·         Aircraft camping allowed at Appleton
·         IFR arrival and departure routings
·         Airports added to IFR Special Traffic Management Program

To further assist pilots flying to Oshkosh this year, EAA volunteer NOTAM chairman Fred Stadler is hosting a June 14 webinar that will highlight special tips and other aspects of the NOTAM fly-in procedures. Lakeland, FL – The annual SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In and Expo is famous for being “Spring Break for Pilots”, bringing thousands of aviation enthusiasts from all over the world to Lakeland Linder Airport in Lakeland, Florida for 43 years. This year, Honda is teaming up with SUN ‘n FUN and Banyan Air Service to bring a unique and spectacular display. Known for its innovative and premium quality products across multiple industries, the Honda brand will be well represented in several exhibits and activities including, for the first time at SUN ‘n FUN, the fully certified HondaJet.
Honda Power Equipment has been a major sponsor and supporter of SUN ‘n FUN for many years, hosting a regular exhibit, supplying generators, remote lighting, landscaping power tools, and other critical equipment to help the SUN ‘n FUN organizers prepare for and service their massive event. And fly it will, according to Greg Gibson, SUN ‘n FUN Director of Operations and Business Development. “SUN ‘n FUN is the perfect venue for the HondaJet to be presented. We have an educated and demanding crowd that expects to see the cutting-edge technology of today as well as the finest of aviation’s history, so we really have a treat for them this year. Honda is a great sponsor and supporter, and we are thrilled to have the HondaJet in the air and on display”
Gibson confirmed that not only will the HondaJet fly in the daily flyby showcase prior to the aerobatic airshow, but that it will be joined by the Race 90 T6 in a unique formation appearance of Honda branded aircraft.
On the ground product side, Honda will introduce Miimo, their new robotic lawn mower, which will be in operation at the Honda display near the Sunset Grille. The exhibit will display products from Honda Power Equipment, Honda Marine, and Honda Power Sports., In addition, attendees have the opportunity to register to win some great Honda prizes, including a Honda EU2000i Generator, a ride with the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, a Big Green Egg Prize Package, or a Richard Petty NASCAR Driving Experience.
Patrons can also look for Honda Charging Stations around the grounds. “Honda Power is there when and where you need it,” said Pernice, “so if you need to charge your mobile phone, camera or any other hand held electronic device, feel free to plug in for all the power you need to enjoy capturing and sharing the excitement at this year’s SUN ‘n FUN.”

The SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In & Expo is prepared for an action-packed show, which will include performances by the US Navy Blue Angels and the largest gathering of P-51 Mustangs in close to a decade.
